SYMBOL: Wo. Thought to be of the human species. Weight accepted at 120lb, though known to vary from 100-380lb.
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES: Seldom found in a pure state. All colours, surface usually covered with paint or oxide. Boils at nothing and freezes without reason. Unpolished specimens turn green in prescence of polished ones. All varieties melt with correct treatment. Very bitter if used incorrectly. Density not so great as supposed. Exhibits magnetic effect on the male of the species. Pure specimens usually assume a rosy tint when discovered in the natural state.
CHEMICAL PROPERTIES: Highly dangerous except in experienced hands. Possesses great affinity for gold, platinum, diamonds and other precious metals and stones. May explode spontaneously. Undissolved by liquids, but activity is greatly increased when saturated by spirits in solution. Sometimes yields to pressure. Fresh variety has great magnetic attraction. Ages rapidly, polymerising with age.
USES: Chiefly ornamental. Sometimes used as a tracer element in criminal investigations and as a positive and negative catalyst in the production of fevers. Probably the most powerful reducing agent known to man.
NOTE: It is highly dangerous to possess more than one specimen.
